Journaling Through Empowerment and Courage

View the Bible Reading Plan for this Month: May

There are seasons when God invites you to live empowered—to stand firm, to serve faithfully, and to step into opportunities that stretch your faith. Both of these devotions, “Strength for the Standing and Serving Life” and “Seizing the Sacred Moment: When Faith Calls You to Move,” remind us that empowerment and courage walk hand in hand. God strengthens us not only to endure, but to act—to recognize His timing and move with bold obedience.

These journal prompts are designed to help you reflect deeply, pray honestly, and identify how the Holy Spirit is shaping your readiness to stand and your willingness to seize the moment.

Journal Prompts for Empowered to Stand and Serve

  1. What does empowerment in Christ look like to you personally? How does it differ from the world’s definition of power?

  2. When have you experienced God’s strength helping you through something that felt too heavy to bear on your own?

  3. What area of your life most needs spiritual empowerment right now—your relationships, your work, or your faith walk?

  4. Reflect on a time when serving others strengthened your spirit more than it drained you. What made that moment life-giving?

  5. How can you create space in your daily life for the Holy Spirit to renew your strength?

  6. Where do you struggle to surrender control to God, and how might that be limiting your empowerment?

  7. In what ways can you serve with greater humility, patience, or joy this week?

  8. How does understanding that “Christ gives you strength” reshape how you see your limitations?

  9. What does “standing firm” look like for you when life feels uncertain or overwhelming?

  10. Write a prayer of surrender, asking God to help you depend fully on His strength rather than your own.

Journal Prompts for Seizing the Sacred Moment

  1. Reflect on a recent opportunity you sensed God calling you toward. Did you act on it or hesitate? Why?

  2. What does “taking a chance in faith” mean to you, and how comfortable are you with that idea?

  3. How do you usually respond when you feel the Holy Spirit nudging you to move before you feel ready?

  4. What fears most often cause you to delay obedience or second-guess God’s timing?

  5. Think about a time when you did step out in faith. What was the outcome, and what did you learn about God’s character through it?

  6. How can you discern the difference between God’s timing and your own impatience or fear?

  7. Write about an area of your life where you need to stop waiting for perfect conditions and simply trust God enough to begin.

  8. What would it look like for you to live each day ready to recognize and seize divine moments?

  9. How might stepping into God’s opportunities this season bring growth or healing to your life?

  10. What would your faith look like if you truly believed that every risk taken in obedience is covered by God’s grace?

When you take time to reflect through these questions, you will begin to see how empowerment and courage intertwine in your walk with God. He not only equips you to stand but also strengthens you to step forward in faith—recognizing each moment as an invitation to trust Him more deeply.
